4. What is the latest date I can purchase travel
insurance?
You can purchase a policy up to the day before you travel, but we recommend that you buy travel insurance
as soon as possible to maximize your benefits. If you wait, you run the risk of an illness or injury before
you buy your travel insurance which would then become a pre-existing condition, not covered by your plan.

5. When is the best time to purchase travel insurance?
To receive the most benefit from the flight, cruise, or trip policy you should purchase the
insurance within 14 - 21 calendar days of making your initial trip payment or deposit. (The actual
number of days varies by company and plan.) If the insurance is purchased within the 14 - 21 day
period, you will usually receive “Bonus Benefits” from the underwriter, such as the
waiver of the plan’s pre-existing medical condition exclusion and travel supplier
(tour operator, airline or cruise line) financial default or bankruptcy protection.

7. I am interested in travel insurance policies that cover cancellation for any reason
whatsoever. Does this exist?
Trip cancellation coverages are "named peril" policies, meaning they will only cover you for a specific
reason named in the policy. None of them provide coverage for "any reason," such as an inability to get

airline or cruise line bankruptcy, etc.

No. If Medicare is your primary insurance, you should purchase travel insurance for possible medical

insurance will cover these deductibles and co-payments on covered claims. Some travel insurance
policies are primary.
